In the last several months I have been to an unusually large number of funerals, and therefore, to the burials which either preceded or followed them. If you would allow me, I would like to take you with me for a moment to show you what I’ve seen in the cemeteries. Our visit will not be long, but if you will see what I have seen, I believe it will be helpful. Read the rest of this entry…
I pass on to you a poem by Amy Carmichael that I came across in some of my reading. She says well that which many of us do not what to accept, but which is true nonetheless… Read the rest of this entry…
Many a young Christian looks with admiration at his or her spiritual leaders and wistfully desires to be in their position. They do not know what it is they desire. It is early Spring, as I write this, and just the other day my wife and I gathered up the branches that had fallen to the ground over the winter. If you have been reading this blog recently you have noticed that over the last few weeks I have been quoting J. Oswald Sanders. I have found his thoughts on spiritual leadership extremely challenging and helpful. The book I have been quoting from is titled Spiritual Leadership and can be found here.
There are many books written about leadership. There are many books written from a Christian perspective on spiritual leadership. By no means have I read them all, but of the ones I have read I can say without reservation that Sanders’ Spiritual Leadership outshines them all. His book is head and shoulders above any other book I’ve read on the subject. I heartily recommend it to you!
