As Senior Pastor of a growing and exciting church (Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church) I am always looking for new avenues through which to communicate the truth of God’s Word to the people of the church. The people of Cedar Crest give me the incredible privilege of spending multiple hours every week studying the Bible. I want to share with them what I learn - and do so in ways that add to the teaching I give them every Sunday in the sermons (click here to listen to the sermons). And so, I am starting this blog. I realize that people other than our church family will also read this blog - you are very welcome!
I am going to try to post a blog every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
A word about the categories. I am indebted to Dr. Harold E. Burchett for the outline of six crucial issues of the Christian life. Dr. Burchett discipled me and continues to pray for and counsel me as I grow as a pastor. I count him as my mentor. (You can check out his books and resources at bcbministries.com.) After over 20 years of discipling men personally, using an approach which was developed by Dr. Burchett, I am more convinced than ever that these six issues are indeed crucial to the Christian life. I have chosen to focus my blogs mainly on those issues.
I will, however, add some blogs on other issues. I’ll try from time to time to pass on to you some of the challenging and helpful writings of Christians from generations gone by. I’ll occasionally talk about preaching, discipleship, about worship and reaching the unreached with the Gospel. Other topics are fair game as well. But the bulk of what I want to blog about are issues that I believe will help you live the Christian life.
It is my prayer that what is written here will do just that!
